Joulent Raises $2 billion Funding Round
Joulent, a Houston, Texas-based developer of multi-gigawatt energy infrastructure and industrial power platforms, received a $1.75 billion strategic minority investment from National Grid. National Grid made the investment through its National Grid Ventures arm. The company intends to use the capital to advance its high-voltage project pipeline, fund modular generation infrastructure, scale its technical capabilities, and expand its engineering workforce to meet AI data center electricity demand. Led by Founder and CEO Chris James, Joulent develops modular “Across-the-Meter™” power generation and advanced control systems engineered to co-locate scalable baseload power directly with customer demand to prevent straining existing local public utility grids. The company officially formalized a 50 percent ownership stake in “Project Kilby”—a 2.67-gigawatt generation campus developed alongside Chevron and GE Vernova to back a Microsoft data center under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Don’t just read the news.
